03. Insulation Strategies
PPSI represents all basic exterior insulation materials (XPS, Mineral Wool, Polyiso, and Sprayed Polyurethane). We recognize unique performance properties of each technology and can provide insight on the ideal approach to meet complex demands of R-value, water absorption, fire resistance, NFPA 285 code compliance, thickness, and installation attachment in todays wall assemblies.
Hunter Rigid Polyiso
Hunter Panels Xci polyiso products meet the continuous insulation standards prescribed in ASHRAE 90.1-2010 and IECC 2012 for commercial exterior wall applications and IBC Building Code Chapter 26.
Hunter Panels offers numerous NFPA 285 compliant assemblies.
- XCI Foil Rigid for all masonry and stone cavity walls
- XCI 286 -All garage soffits with white NFPA 286 thermal barrier built into facer
- XCI CG- Coated Glass Facer for high strength permeable facer behind cladding & siding systems
- XCI PLY – Insulated structural sheathing for CI in all nail-able cladding configurations
Therma Fiber Mineral Wool
Mineral wool products are non-combustible per ASTM E136. Mineral wool will resist flame propagation over the surface of the products.
As a non-combustible material, mineral wool insulation is ideal for assemblies with combustible claddings and/or water-resistant barriers (WRB). When used with other combustible products, mineral wool acts as an aid in passing NFPA 285.
BASF Sprayed Polyurethane
SPF or Spray Polyurethane Foam describes a category of high-performance spray foam insulation and air barrier material that delivers multiple benefits in one application. These advantages include high insulation values, near-zero air permeability, increased building strength, severe weather and flood resistance, increased occupant comfort, improved indoor air quality, reduced operating costs and lower environmental impacts.
Because spray polyurethane foam is fully adhered and seals hard-to-reach penetrations, it provides unequaled air sealing properties for the entire building envelope. Reduced uncontrolled air leakage results in lower utility bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
