ECO Cladding

ECO Cladding

Our approach to rainscreen subframing gives designers the ability to seemlessly interchange multiple cladding materials on the same project and/or elevation with a unified substructure assembly.

Architectural Facade Solutions

Architectural Facade Solutions

AFS Subframe solutions include both traditional and innovative attachment options, including horizontal mounting substructure for both exposed and concealed fastening systems. Their unique perforated rails and profiles allow for ventilation and drainage without the need to add additional layers of subframe.

Strongirt

Strongirt

Strongwell’s STRONGIRT is the ideal continuous insulation (CI) cladding attachment support system. This all-FRP (fiberglass) pultruded composite uses a custom fire-retardant resin system and unique laminate design to offer superior pull out strength, excellent thermal efficiency, and the ability to work with any non-proprietary insulation (no routing or fabricating of rigid insulation is required).

03. Insulation Strategies

PPSI represents all basic exterior insulation materials (XPS, Mineral Wool, Polyiso, and Sprayed Polyurethane). We recognize unique performance properties of each technology and can provide insight on the ideal approach to meet complex demands of R-value, water absorption, fire resistance, NFPA 285 code compliance, thickness, and installation attachment in todays wall assemblies.

Hunter Rigid Polyiso

Hunter  Panels Xci polyiso products meet the continuous insulation standards prescribed in ASHRAE 90.1-2010 and IECC 2012 for commercial exterior wall applications and IBC Building Code Chapter 26.

Hunter Panels offers numerous NFPA 285 compliant assemblies.

  • XCI Foil Rigid for all masonry and stone cavity walls
  • XCI 286 -All garage soffits with white NFPA 286 thermal barrier built into facer
  • XCI CG- Coated Glass Facer for high strength permeable facer behind cladding & siding systems
  • XCI PLY – Insulated structural sheathing for CI in all nail-able cladding configurations

Therma Fiber Mineral Wool

Mineral wool products are non-combustible per ASTM E136. Mineral wool will resist flame propagation over the surface of the products.

As a non-combustible material, mineral wool insulation is ideal for assemblies with combustible claddings and/or water-resistant barriers (WRB). When used with other combustible products, mineral wool acts as an aid in passing NFPA 285.

BASF Sprayed Polyurethane

SPF or Spray Polyurethane Foam describes a category of high-performance spray foam insulation and air barrier material that delivers multiple benefits in one application. These advantages include high insulation values, near-zero air permeability, increased building strength, severe weather and flood resistance, increased occupant comfort, improved indoor air quality, reduced operating costs and lower environmental impacts.

Because spray polyurethane foam is fully adhered and seals hard-to-reach penetrations, it provides unequaled air sealing properties for the entire building envelope. Reduced uncontrolled air leakage results in lower utility bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

/Air Barriers

04. Air Barriers

PPSI started promoting air barriers over 25 years ago in the DC, Maryland and Virginia market. PPSI brought Canadian building science technology to our market place has positioned us with key manufacturers that are the market leaders in fluid, sheet, and SPF technologies, including permeable and non-permeable systems with full compliment of details to establish the plane of airtightness.

Introduced by Henry® over 30 years ago – and providing trusted performance ever since – self-adhered Henry® Blueskin® air barriers create a continuous membrane upon installation.

  • Vapor impermeable and vapor permeable options available
  • Precise manufacturing controls the thickness to help ensure uniform performance
  • Available in a variety of roll widths – makes for easy handling on site
  • Compliant in various NFPA 285 assemblies
  • Installation is quick and easy

With a range of vapor impermeable and vapor permeable options, Air-Bloc® fluid applied air barriers accommodate every climate and substrate for greater flexibility depending on your project needs.

  • Low VOC formulations allow compliance with environmental regulations
  • Available as single component, with UV stability for permanent exposure
  • Apply with standard industry spray equipment, roller or trowel over a wide temperature range
  • Available with antimicrobial agents to defend against mold and mildew
  • Compliant in various NFPA 285 assemblies

Insulating Air Barriers have become a key component in many building-envelop assemblies.  In addition to providing the highest standard of quality in air and water barrier performance, SPF provides the highest plane of thermal continuity as it is fully adhered with no joints gaps or seams.  The following are very common applications for Walltite Insulating Air Barriers:

  • Masonry Cavity Walls -CMU& Light Guage Metal Framed
  • Back Side of Precast – no convection loops
  • Mass Wall Retrofit
  • Garage Soffits & Corrugated Roof Decks

05. High Performance Wall Assemblies

INSULATED STRUCTURAL SHEATHING
(FRT PLYWOOD OR NAILBASE OSB) CI SYSTEM

  • Simple CI approach using sandwich Iso FRT Plywood panel
  • Complete engineering for any nailable attachment siding systems
  • Continuous plywood sheathing eliminates two-layer CI subframing
  • Code compliant with NFPA 285 for all claddings except HPL
  • Type 1 B, Type II, Type 3A & 3B all compliant for non-combustible construction
  • Can you used in Podium with FRT PLY
  • Iso insulation thicknesses from 1” to 4”
  • High Performance net zero energy with SPF on mineral wool in stud cavity, R-Values from R-24 to R-40

TRADITIONAL HYBRID RIGID ISO OR MINERAL WOOL THERMALLY BROKEN WITH FRP GIRTS FOR CI

  • Traditional hybrid wall with stud cavity insulation and exterior CI mineral wool insulation
  • Accommodating all cladding options including HPL’s with full NFPA 285 compliances
  • Substitute stud batt insulation for Walltite LWP to move wall to high performance Net Zero Energy efficiency.
  • Strongirt FRP CI subframing provides 100% effective R Value using current 2017 DC Energy Code

THE RETAIL WALL – FRP THERMALLY BROKEN ISO CI OPEN FRAMING CI

  • The ideal retail wall using ISO XCI CG (Coated glass facer) captured in FRT
Strongirt on open framing (no sheathing).
  • Henry All Weather STPE installed to the insulation providing 12 months of full exposure before cladding enclosure
  • Very fast envelop enclosure with cladding attachment accommodating all Rainscreens (fiber cement, single skin metal, modular metal panels, ACM, brick, stucco, etc)
  • Masonry ties attached to FRP girt face in 16” x 16” or 16” x 24” spacing. Face
mount on insulated girts accommodates very cost effect shallow depth ties.

ALUMINUM BRACKET & RAIL ADJUSTABLE SUBFRAMING

  • Thermally broken aluminum subframing 75% to90% thermally efficient
  • 1 ½” adjustable subframing with punched thumbs allowing for internal shimming.
  • Insulation subframing layer can be oriented horizontally (HCI) or Vertically (VCI) depending on concealed or exposed attachment and portrait or landscape panel
    orientation.
  • High load transfer capacity for any cladding attachment, accommodating cavities
    from 2” to 12” deep.
